I haven't had much about cats in the vaious content pages here, because until recently we have been without a cat.
We adopted a stray cat several years ago and kept him as an inside cat for several years. It got out one night when the wind blew the door open and we haven't seen him since. Our two daughters that live out of town recently came for a visit. They bought my wife a kitten for mother's day and we are having to meld them together with our two poodles.
Kittens have a personality all their own. I am sure you have heard the old adage about curiosity killing a cat. The rejoinder to that is that satisfaction brought him back.
Cats are a lot easier to house break than are dogs. Our kitten found and was using her litter box an hour after being brought home.
Thus far, things are working out pretty well between the kitten and the poodles. No spats or attacks. There is a great deal of jealousy, particularly in Bobby the parti poodle. However, his response is to try to get to the lap quicker than the kitten.
You can leave a kitten overnight while you can't do that with a dog. A dog would eat all of the food you leave in the first half day. A cat does not do that.
